Laos - Vang Vieng Hotel Review
Vang Vieng Eco Lodge
BookLocation: Out of Town
From: USD 5.00
The Eco Lodge is viewed as a farout location (7km from Vang Vieng) by the locals, but for me, it's distant enough for some peace and quiet yet close enough to cycle or bike to town. Although it can do with some enhancements, like its initial dirtroad which gets kinda muddy, and more ambient lights during the night, the eco-lodge has a lot more to be grateful for than these minor inconveniences. The wooden cabins we stayed in were clean and nicely furnished. Given that we were so close to nature, the geckos and bugs did infringe our little haven but was never too much to handle. The view from our balcony was amazing. Limestone mountains greet you amidst low clouds, a roaring river and stunning local flora. Butterflies animate the suroundings with their splashes of yellow, blue and white. The staff linguistically were inconsistent but always sincere and thoughtful. I even forgot to take my umbrella once on one of my trip out to town on their bike and they kept it for me on my return. The restaurant was basic but service was prompt and portions more than generous. We opted for a waterfall trip guided by one of the local villager named Meng and was impressed by the personal service. He constantly updated us on our surroundings and watched out for us every step of the way. The little known trek was rewarding, away from the usual tourists. All in all, we had a fantastic experience at this resort and would recommend it for travellers who are seeking to get closer to nature and the local way of life without sacrificing some creature comforts.- 14/06/2008, Mr. Morgan Awyong
Great place, charming and hospitable owners and terrific facilities. Couldn't have possibly asked for more. Vang Vieng is actually not a very nice place itself, so it was great to be "out of town" in a natural setting. Regards Marshall Lees- 07/01/2008, Mr. Marshall Lees

The Elephant Crossing
BookLocation: Riverside
From: USD 35.00
Really great place to stay. It is definately one of the nicest places to stay in Vang Vieng. the small town is quite scruffy compared to Luang Prabang, however The elephant crossing is on the river banks and you get a beautiful view of the river and limestone rocks (if your on the 2nd floor upwards). really spacios rooms, clean and cool. The owner is australian so she is a great help for recommending trips and bike trails etc. this is one of the more pricey places in town, but you definately get whjat you pay for in Vang Vieng. would definately stay here again! - 20/08/2008, Mr. Christopher Smith
superb views! service was quite slow in the restaurant and the breakfast definitely needs some improvement, but the location was great and the farang owners were helpful.- 20/04/2008, Mrs. Emily Greenberg

Ban Sabai Bungalows
BookLocation: Riverside
From: USD 28.00
san sabai bungalows are well worth the extra few dollars but if you are going to be out and coming back late then let the poor chap know in reception cos he gets into his jim-jams pretty early and reception is closed.- 27/05/2008, Mr. michael mccorry
very quaint place, but the service was slightly lacking at times. The walls were a little thin, but it was a luxury bungalow experience.- 20/04/2008, Mrs. Emily Greenberg

Le Jardin Organique Bungalows
BookLocation: Riverside
From: USD 15.00
The bungalows are situated directly next to the river in a beautiful and quiet green garden with a nice view. They are clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful! - 13/03/2008, Mrs. Kristin Jahn
I booked this room for my son's girlfriend as a Valentine's Day present as they could not be together on the day. The way the hotel dealt with my request was excellent - I had also emailed another hotel with a similar request and they did not even reply to the email!! - and I was also sent an email to say that she and her friend had checked in okay. I was very satisfied.- 18/02/2008, Mrs. Katharyn Camara

Thavonsouk Resort
BookLocation: Riverside
From: USD 21.00
Paper thin dividing walls between semi-detached chalets made for very noisy nights. Late night TV and subsequent snoring sounded as if in our own room. Otherwise good and friendly, but a significant reservation.- 07/03/2008, Mr. Richard Allen
Hotel setting superb with views across river to mountains beyond. Room fairly small and basic but good value for money at the price- 04/02/2008, Mr. Geoffrey Poxon
